The roster

One row per person with their employee ID and their manager's ID. Names, job titles and departments go on the boxes if the file has them.
Drawn from the file, including what is wrong with it
Every box comes from a row, and every line from a manager’s ID. That makes the chart as right as the file, and the file is often not quite right. Somebody whose manager has left points at an ID that is no longer there; the chart starts their team as a tree of its own and writes on the box that the manager is missing, rather than quietly hanging them from the top. Two people who each report to the other form a loop with no top, so they are not drawn at all and are listed instead. The Span of Control Analyzer reads the reporting lines the same way, so the two always agree.
A chart of everybody is a chart of nobody
Two hundred boxes in a row is a scroll bar, not a picture. The chart opens as deep as fits your screen at a size you can read, and every closed team carries a count of the people in it, so nobody is left off without the chart saying so. Open or close any team, start the chart at any manager, or find a person by name and the chart opens the way down to them.
Kept close to square
The usual layout spreads every report side by side, so a manager of twelve is twelve boxes wide and a modest company is a banner. Here the top person’s team spreads out as people expect, and below that, people who manage nobody are listed in a column under their manager, the way org charts are drawn by hand.
Empty posts show as empty
A row whose name reads Vacant, Open or TBH is drawn with a dashed outline, so an open role looks different from a person at a glance, and still counts in its manager’s team.
Taking it with you
The PNG is a picture for email or a document. The SVG stays sharp at any size, so it is the one for printing or for PowerPoint, which can place it like any picture. Both show the chart exactly as it is open on screen. The list download is the same chart as rows, with each person’s level and manager, for a spreadsheet or a screen reader.
What this does not do
It draws the reporting lines the file records. It does not show dotted-line relationships, move people, or judge whether a structure is right; the Span of Control Analyzer is the place to look at spans and layers.
